Meal planner and shopping list
Plan each day's meals and make one shopping list, with the right quantities for every meal.
A little help in the kitchen
How to use it
Choose how many days to plan.
Edit the example recipe forms or use the plus button to add your own. Enter a name, original servings and ingredients with amounts, units and aisles. Choose Save recipe to finish and reuse it. Choose Edit on a saved recipe to make changes.
Choose a day and select its Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner choices. Any meal or an entire day can be skipped. Set the people count and recipes for each selected meal. Add another recipe for a side or an extra dish. People can differ between breakfast, lunch and dinner and from one day to another. Leave meals without a recipe unplanned.
Choose Create meal plan. Check the week grid, which shows recipes and people for each meal, and the combined shopping list. Save, share a link, print or save PDF, or download CSV. Recalculate after changing the plan.
How it works
For every recipe in a planned meal, ingredient amount = original amount x people for that meal / original recipe servings. A recipe for 4 containing 500 g mince needs 250 g for a 2-person lunch or 750 g for a 6-person dinner. Each meal uses its own people count.
A meal can include more than one recipe, such as a main dish and a side. Each is scaled for everyone eating that meal. Reusing a recipe at another meal adds its ingredients again. Recipes without a planned meal and meals you have not selected add nothing to the shopping list.
Ingredients combine when their names match after ignoring capitalization, extra spaces and supported common singular/plural pairs such as onion/onions. Different descriptions such as onion and red onion stay separate. Check ingredient names before shopping.
Only the compatible g/kg and mL/L pairs convert automatically. For example, 500 g plus 1 kg becomes 1.5 kg, and 250 mL plus 1 L becomes 1.25 L. Other units combine only with the identical unit and cup or spoon standard. Count, weight and volume never convert into one another.
Fractions are kept, including whole ingredients: 1 onion scaled from 2 to 3 people gives 1.5 onions. Familiar fractions display as fractions; other quantities show up to 12 significant digits. Choose each ingredient's shopping aisle. Matching ingredients with conflicting named aisles appear once under Other with an explanation.
The examples are editable ingredient lists. No external recipe, nutrition or food safety data is used, and cooking or storage times are not calculated. Save recipe adds the recipe to the current plan. To keep recipes after leaving, calculate and choose Save. A share link contains the saved recipe details and the plan's settings. Every supported recipe collection can be saved when browser storage is available. Large collections can exceed the share-link limit; the tool reports that without removing ingredients. CSV and print include the full planned week and shopping list.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a weekly meal planner with a shopping list?
Choose your days, edit and save your recipes, then select meals separately for each day. Skip any meals you do not need. Set the people count at each meal and select its recipes. Create meal plan produces the week grid and a shopping list grouped by aisle.
Can different days or meals have different people counts?
Yes. Every breakfast, lunch and dinner has its own People field. A 2-person breakfast and a 6-person dinner scale independently, even when they use the same recipe. The week grid, CSV and PDF show those counts beside the meals.
Can one meal include several recipes?
Yes. Select the first recipe, then choose Add another recipe for a side or another dish. Every selected recipe scales to that meal's people count. The same recipe can also be used at other meals. Choose each recipe once within a meal to avoid accidental duplicates.
Why have two ingredients stayed separate?
Names must match apart from capitalization, extra spaces and supported singular/plural pairs. Red onion and onion stay separate. Units must be identical or one of the g/kg and mL/L pairs. Items counted individually cannot combine with ingredients weighed in grams.
Does it round fractional ingredients up?
No. Quantities retain their scaled fractions, such as 1.5 onions. Choose how to buy and prepare those amounts to suit your recipe. The shopping list combines the scaled amounts before formatting, so it does not round each recipe's ingredients first.
Can I save, share, print or export the plan?
Yes. After calculating, save in this browser, share a plan link, print or save PDF, or download CSV. The grid and exports include every planned recipe and its meal's people count. Saved plans open from Saved plans, and Delete my data clears browser saves. Long collections may exceed save or share limits; print and CSV remain available.
